Description
The need for lifts to transfer bariatric patients has increased considerably in the last few years. Liko have a range of mobility aids that are bariatric rated.
With a lifting capacity of 500 kg (1,014 lb), the freestanding FreeSpan™ UltraTwin system meets very high demands.
FreeSpan UltraTwin Gantry hoist features
The FreeSpan UltraTwin lift system is equipped with lockable wheels, making it easier to move between rooms or locations & place correctly for lifting and facilitating cleaning. The system also breaks down into smaller – easier to transport parts.
The FreeSpan UltraTwin hoist system is freestanding and since it is not affixed to the walls or the ceiling, there are no special strength requirements for those structures.
The system has 8 different rail lengths available giving lots of options, allowing a total width of 2 to 5.5 meters for optimal adaptation to the size of the room. FreeSpan UltraTwin is also height-adjustable to four positions.
Thanks to a system with two lift motors that work together, UltraTwin not only lifts and transfers but also helps position the patient in sitting semi-reclining or horizontal positions.
The UltraTwin can be installed with two different widths between rails: one for sitting transfers and one for transferring in a horizontal position with a stretcher.
The UltraTwist™ accessory offers a unique ability to adjust the patient’s position during and after the transfer. UltraTwist™ enables full rotation(360°) of the patient and is available in two versions: narrow and wide. Which UltraTwist™ you should choose depends on your needs. For horizontal lifts, UltraTwist™ Wide is the recommended choice.
Transferring very heavy people requires special techniques and specially designed lift equipment. Heavy-lifting accessories are available in several models, all designed to lift 500 kg (1,100 lb).
The FreeSpan UltraTwin is also available in a 460 kg (1,014 lb) traverse version, enabling coverage of the entire area of a room with a single lift system.
The spreader bar is compatible with many easily obtainable sling ranges that are compatible up to the 500Kg hoist weight limit.

What is a Gantry hoist?
A gantry hoist is a suspended track hoist. The only difference from a ceiling track hoist is that the cassette (hoist unit) is mounted on a portable frame with legs rather than fixed to a ceiling. Gantries are ideal if you only need the system for a short time. For example, we sometimes fit a gantry system as a temporary measure before we fit a ceiling track hoist or for clients who do not want any holes drilled into their ceiling or walls. Gantry hoists are floor-standing frames that can be used with a mains-powered hoist unit or a battery-powered portable hoist unit. They are usually stood over a bed and are valuable for those confined to bed for long periods.
While some frames are awkward and heavy to set up, all of the models offered here are chosen because they are well-designed and boast excellent usability. This often means they are lighter and more manageable for carers & support staff. Our gantry hoists do not rely on support from the ceiling, making them suitable for properties where any potential structural issues have been encountered.
