Description

The HP-1 disability helmet is the base model of our range and offers an easy way to protect the head from day-to-day knocks, scrapes and bumps. The HP-1 special needs head protection helmets are a simple, effective way of protecting the head and can help reduce injuries caused to people who suffer from minor falls or repeated knocks. They are suitable for adults, children and toddlers.

Our range of head protection hats and helmets helps reduce impacts caused by many different conditions.

Including:

  • Epilepsy
  • Autism (head banging)
  • Dementia
  • Drop seizures
  • ADHD
  • Alzheimer’s
  • Developmental disabilities
  • Falls
  • and more.

The HP-1 Soft Helmet is exceptionally light (100 grams). However due to its high density foam filling it is highly effective at protecting from impacts.

The HP-1 is now available in a “soft” version which has a gel inner instead of foam. This makes the head protector more tactile and soft to the touch, although the protection offered is the same.

This soft special needs helmet can also have a “closed/covered top” which offers protection from impacts from above. Or semi-open as standard, to resist knocks to the front, back and sides.

There is also an option of having an integral soft sun peak.

The HP-1 has an adjustable chin strap as a standard that offers excellent hold and comfort.

This means that the hat can stay secure on the head, even during a fall.

Each HP-1 head protector is manufactured individually to order. Supplied millimeter-perfect, which helps to keep it in place.

The internal cotton lining of the HP-1 gives excellent moisture transport (wicking). The open-top version allows even more airflow to the head, however this option is not suitable if the user is impacting the top of the head.

The HP-1 is hand washable at 40°. Once washed it should be allowed to dry naturally and not tumble dried as this could affect the internal foams’ ability to absorb impacts effectively.

There are three standard colours to choose from (red, brown and blue). We offer non-standard colours & materials at extra cost  – see the section below.

Standard sizes for the HP-1 special needs helmets for adults are: 45 to 62 cm head circumference. Custom sizes are available as a special order. The lightweight HP-1 is suitable for toddlers in custom sizes.

We can normally provide you a HP-1 with just a few measurements. We can send you a guide on how to provide these measurements.

Those who have a more serious risk of falls or injury may wish to look at our HP-3, HP-4 & HP-5 head protectors which offer additional “built-in” protection with additional “add-on” options.

Please note: Although these products are designed to substantially reduce the risk of injuries, the manufacturer and seller accept no responsibility for injury or loss arising from the use of these products. These products are not able to offer complete protection from ALL types of injury, although every effort is made in their design to offer the best head protection possible.

If a helmet is damaged in any way, it should not be worn. We would like to emphasize that there is no known device or helmet for preventing 100% of all injuries. Only you, the customer or user, are in a position to evaluate the particular needs of the individual in each environment. It is, therefore, essential that professional and medical expertise be sought in making decisions regarding headgear use.

These helmets are not intended for use as bicycle or equestrian helmets.
